Last Thursday, I attended the annual Fashion Connect event in support of the The Aids Trust of Australia. Fashion Connect is an event that brings together talented aspiring designers, photographers, stylists, editors and bloggers all under the Carlton’s Hasti Bala roof. It was a fashion extravaganza soiree where people came to show off, admire, and mingle amongst fashion lovers alike.

Having gone to the 2011 Fashion Connect event last year, I somewhat had an idea in my mind of what to expect. But Oscar Calvo, founder and director of OC Communications and Fashion Connect, had simply outdone himself again. The event was no less than grand, with the room buzzing with chatter and Chambord cocktails in hands.

The best part of the event was being able to meet a varied amount of different people working in different industries – it was essentially a networking event with industry names at its most fashionable state. It was also good to see some familiar faces like Kyra from Pybus PR, Madhu from the Arts Centre Melbourne, and Matcho from Matcho Suba.

So if you’re ever looking for a night out where you can meet and mingle with industry names, then save the date for the next Fashion Connect event.

Here’s one piece of advice, if you’re looking to rub elbows with Melbourne’s fashion elite, here’s one not to miss Troops!
