Mister Mode Stallholder Feature: Meet Jessica Francis from For The Love of Vintage

August 14, 2012 - 12:29 pm
The lovely Jessica Francis of For The Love of Vintage took a little time out to chat with us about her wares, her love of rockabilly and avoiding the distraction of television. After setting eyes on her pretty handcrafted and personally sourced items, we just had to find out where she gets her inspiration. From a range of kitschy-chic handmade jewellery, to artsy prints, our patrons will definitely be spoilt for choice.
So thanks for the chat, Jessica! After this post, I’m sure after we won’t be the only ones hankering after your wares.

I actually found out about Mister Mode through my talented friend Darcy Johnson, creator of the “Vice Versa Project”. I simply attended one of the markets to help support him and figured I’d give it a shot next time around.

Innovative handmade items sourced from my own sickly life obsessions.

Being poor uni students, when I moved out of home for the first time with my best friend, we refused to purchase a TV antenna for the house. Instead of endless hours on mind-numbing television, I decided to embark on my creative genius and spend that time avoiding my uni homework and creating a variety of handmade goodies in an attempt to sell so I could buy cheese. I think it’s worked out well.
I am a studying photography at RMIT. I also have a small photography business called “Jessie-Lou; Photographer”. I specialize in kustom kulture/pin up photography, however my interest in my chosen field branches off into various avenues.www.facebook.com/jessielouphotographer/I also have an obsession with sloths, Tic-Toc biscuits and The Lion King.
Polite, supportive and just amazingly rad.
I like to think that my items are quirky and individual. I tend to branch off my various obsessions from my day to day life and approach my business as if I were my own customer. I figure if I was to buy them then surely someone else out there would too! Not to mention catering for various sub-cultures and individuals who want to buy something made by someone with the same love and interests they enjoy.

Lucille Ball because she’s beautiful, intelligent, witty and quirky. What else can I say? I love Lucy.
Hopefully at a lot more markets/festivals and as a well established business online.
I always imagine a potential photo-shoot when I source any vintage items or materials. I love anything era based. I get a lot of inspiration just by looking at an item and imagining the time in which it was made or the stories behind its previous owners.
My sense of style is quite mishmash. I have an undying love for the rockabilly scene, however my commitment to the punk/metal industry will forever hold a strong place in my heart.

There you have it, troops! Multi-faceted and unique, Jessica is a rebel with an artistic cause in her support of punk and pop culture. We love the devotion to her creative pursuits, her support of local artists, and the evident celebration of everything she loves in her products! So to get a peek into Jessica’s world (and for photo friendly accessories) be sure to mark down August 25th on your calendars!!
See you there Troops!
