A couple weeks ago, we made an announcement of the opening of Arts Centre Melbourne’s new pride, Hamer Hall. In celebration of Hamer Hall, we launched a competition giveaway to WIN Tickets to DJ Nitin Sawhney.

All you had to do, was post a status on your facebook giving us and Arts Centre Melbourne a shout-out!

In conjunction with the opening of Hamer Hall, the Arts Centre Melbourne has been entertaining the masses with an onslaught of events, and a glittering list of amazing talent. We want to share the experience with all our Troopers so read on to find out more….

Nitin Sawhney is one of the world’s most sought after DJs, producers and composers today, with an impressive string of achievements under his belt. Win this competition and be captivated by the versatility of his music, and see his experience of scoring over 40 films and television shows shine. This repertoire includes BBC series “The Human Planet”, Salman Rushdie’s new screenplay “Midnight’s Children”, and Mira Nair’s recent film “The Namesake”. Signed to Universal Publishing, he has made 8 studio albums, and nominated for a Mercury Music prize, won a MOBO, 2 BBC Radio 3 awards and a Southbank show award, amongst 15 others.

But it doesn’t stop there – we’ve also got two tickets to Macy Gray to give away! We’re going to be making some lucky troopers VERY happy.

Who can forget Macy Gray’s soulful rasp? I’m sure many of us have sung along to the words of “I try to say goodbye and I choke/ try to walk away and I stumble” while desperately trying to mimic that unique voice. Macy Gray’s music is unmistakably distinctive, with a vibe that is all her own. Like many great artists, the lyrics behind each song comes first, and the soul-stirring way in which she sings them is both timeless and resonating. This Grammy-winner, actress and R ‘n’ B icon will be performing at Hamer Hall come September 21st.

Mister Mode held a lucky draw at the event for this, so thank you to those of you who entered during our Fashion Night Market event on the 25th of August 2012! The response was overwhelming and it was awesome to see how Macy Gray’s music has impacted so many people across different ages.
