WINTER ISNT JUST A TIME FOR DARK COLOURS AND LAYERS, and it definitely isn’t a time to shy away from being creative with your wardrobe either. I love adding a splash of colour into a winter outfit as it simply makes the layers your wearing more apparent and distinct. I noticed that most of my daily outfits all include at least one preloved or op-shop purchased item too! Great winter tip: If you want to invest in more clothing to keep you warm, op-shops and markets are a great place to look for pieces that will keep you warm & stylish at a good price.
I am going to the ‘Trapped in the Zoo’ event this Friday which is a celebration of art and fashion in Australia. The event is also in conjuction with the Seven Women Charity. I’ve been working on bits and pieces of the Vinnies Winter Campaign at my full time job at Sputnik Agency, and it’s so sad to see how unaware people are about not-for-profit organisations and how they help the community. Hopefully after this Friday’s event, I will be able to provide a little more insight about Seven Women Charity and get a real feel of what they do.
Speaking about causes, next week I will be attending the A[Wear] event which is a combination of fashion from 1 op-shop and 10 designers, with the atmosphere of music and dance, all of this in essence of a fundraising event to aid Prahran Mission. I think it’s such a great idea to get a younger demographic involved with good causes, it does seem to be the stigma that charities are only for ‘old people’, so what better way than to create a fresh event involving everything we love whilst all the proceeds from ticket sales will go to Prahran Mission to support their great work! I will be get into more detail tomorrow, but if I’ve sold you for next Wednesday 6th June already, then get your tickets here. The event starts from 6.30pm onwards at Whitehouse Institute, Melbourne.
Til’ tomorrow troops.
