The Mister Mode Fashion Night Market Re-Launch Event, 3rd September 2011

3rd September 2011 – It was a beautiful Saturday in Melbourne and there was only one thing on our mind. The hourly countdown began and as the word spread, the Mister Mode sargeants prepared for what was going to be a night filled with Fashion, Music and Drinks – a night full of unexpected moments, and planned surprises – a night called the Mister Mode Fashion Night Market.

It was early mid-day when the Mister Mode team rolled up to the abandoned warehouse in South Yarra. Stencils, spray paint, ladders, posters, glue, heavy arm machinery and brain power was required to fufil the tasks to ensure that the night was set to go come doors open at 8 oclock that night. Hit 7.45pm, all I could remember was the shuffling of feet, the music pumping and ensuring that everyone and everything is in place. I turned around to have one good look at the Mister Mode set up – a vision that I could only visualise in my head for the last couple of months have finally come to life, a vision that was possible through all the blood sweat and tears. Then suddenly – it all seemed worth it.

The doors bustled open and the entrants of the night began to flow in… All that was visible was a flock of fashion savvy attendees who found themselves shopping, drink in hand and a walk that strolled to the beat. The variety of clothes that were sold at the event sampled from every sub-culture and trend that Melbourne had to offer. One thing was for sure though, there was no lack of a good bargain and that could only be proven from the room of smiles only shown by happy shopper. And boy! Were there alot of smiles!

Found in the corner of the warehouse sat a white large booze bus where the menu was casually applied on the bus windows, a different take to your usual 40 seater bus. The Mister Mode troopers strolled to rehydrate with drinks to fufil their regular saturday routine where a drop of alcohol would loosen up the spirits of a hard weeks worth of work. Also in the corner of the warehouse, the Mister Mode troops found a white stretched limo, where it sat preciously and was more than happy to share the spotlight of photographers and attendees on the night.

Flashes of pictures went off and a warehouse full of shopping, mingling, drinking, talking, music, bargaining and socialising was all happening. Few months ago, the mission was set for the Mister Mode army, and last week, the target was reached. I guess you could say, it was a Mister Mode dream come true ;)

But of course not to forget, a great big Thank you to the Mister Mode sergeants, the Mister Mode stallholders, the Tripomatica Boys, the Ko-op boys, Raww Blog, Stylezilla, Stray Magazine, Wow People Magazine & Mr. J-dawg and his creative photography, and last but not least, the Mister Mode army and troopers for making all of this possible.

So take a break but hang in there, because we are not going anywhere. We already have even BIGGER, CRAZIER and more UNEXPECTED plans for our next event and it will be something you wouldnt be able to turn down. Keep your eyes and ears out for the return of Mister Mode in Summer 2011/2012. ;)
